Century to launch Carrier & Company collection
50-plus pieces feature pre-war European and American design influences

HICKORY, N.C. – Luxury furniture resource Century Furniture is unveiling a new collection in partnership with Carrier & Company Interiors at the April 6-10 High Point Market that merges traditional forms with Art Deco and pre-war design influences.

The 50-plus piece Carrier & Company collection includes bedroom, dining room and occasional furniture as well as 17 upholstery pieces. It will be shown at the Century showroom in space 213 of 200 Steele.

Designed by husband-and-wife team Jesse Carrier and Mara Miller, principals of Carrier & Company, the pieces were inspired by pre-war European details, scale and finishes.

“We realized that this furniture line would begin to truly define our aesthetic and our brand,” the couple said. “We explored items we covet, materials we adore and then removed and edited what didn’t feel true. Our collection for Century ‘feels’ like us – pieces that are stylish and functional, leaning towards historic forms but mixed and finished in a way that is fresh, effortless, interesting and pretty.”

Included among the 17 new upholstery introductions is the Gracie sofa, which was inspired by the “Deco and pre-war glamour” of Jesse and Mara’s hometown, New York City. Also available as a sectional, it features details such as slightly recessed arm panels, a slope-shaped arm silhouette and fluted block feet.

Signature bedroom pieces include the Jacques bed, which features light patina bronze finished posts with polished brass brackets and feet that support a paneled oak frame. The Eve mirror features a frame with antiqued outer edges.

“Our collaboration with Century has been a dream come true,” said Miller. “We have created a collection that reflects our point of view, and we are eager to bring these distinct pieces to talented designers and consumers around the world.”

“This is an exceptional partnership with a fellow family-run business. Century’s craftsmanship, hard work and dedication has made this process enjoyable and collaborative. We are thrilled to introduce our collection in High Point,” Carrier added.

“Jesse and Mara have managed to create an extensive collection that is clever, purposeful, eclectic and unique,” said Alex Shuford, III, president and CEO of Century Furniture. “The ease of this collaboration comes through in each piece. We are delighted to debut this collection in April and officially welcome Jesse and Mara to our family of design partners.”
